The community of Brusy

For ages, Brusy has been the capital of Zabory- a subregion of southern Kaszuby, and a significant center of wood processing. The town is an important point on the cultural map of Kaszuby- for 15 years there has been an ethnic school- Kashubian High School, and at the turn of July and August there is the famous International Folklore Festival. In Brusy-Jaglie lives and works the most remarkable folk creator Józef Chełmowski. The most precious monuments of the land of Brusy are the neo-romanesque church of All Saints in Brusy- the largest brick temple in Pomerania, the wooden church in Leśno from 1710, whose pointed belfry is the highest wooden structure in Poland (105 feet), the stone rings and barrows, located 1.2 miles south of Leśno- remains of Goths’ and Gepids’ activity in the area. Other attractive places in the community of Brusy are Męcikał, Czernica, Asmus, Laska, Widno, Leśno.
