Trip to Wiele.

Our tour suggestion is a trip from Chojnice to Wiele. Wiele is a beautiful Kashubian village near Wielewskie and Ciepłe lakes. It is famous for Kalwaria Wielewska, built in years 1916 - 1927 calvary that consists of 22 chapels, such as: Caiaphas Palace (Pałac Kajfasza), Holy Staircase (Święte Schody) or sculpture Ecce Homo by Wojciech Durek from Kraków.

Chojnice – Brusy – Leśno – Odry - Wiele
(Route length: 46 km, travel time: 1 hour)

Chojnice: route start

Brusy: A town that for centuries has been considered the capital of Zabory land. Worth noticing there are the uncommon art nouveau buildings. Very interesting is also the modern All Saints' Church (kościół p.w. Wszystkich Świętych) with double tower. People interested in handicraft will find the workshop of Józef Chełmowski attractive - he's a famous Kashubian sculptor living in Brusy Jaglie.

Leśno:Kashubian village with small wooden Church of Feast of the Cross (kościół p.w. Podwyższenia Krzyża Św.) founded by queen Marie Louise Gonzaga.Leśno lies near the archeological reservation of stone circles. The reservation contains 20 stone circles, 13 complete barrows and 19 box-shaped graves from around 500 B.C.

Odry (off the route): Lying at the border between Kashubian Lakeland and Bory Tucholskie the village remains a somewhat mysterious place. It is the biggest burial ground of Goths and Gepids in Poland, dating back to 1st and 2nd century A.D. Presently there are 12 stone circles and 20 barrows. The stone circles were probably used as a clock and astronomical observatory.According to the popular belief they are places full of magic.

Wiele:Besides visiting the Wiele Calvary one should also see the St. Nicholas's Church (kościół p.w. św.Mikołaja.)The interior of this wooden church holds the painting of Holy Mother of Consolation, famous for many miracles.Culture Centre in Wiele has its edifice in Zabory Land Museum (Muzeum Ziemi Zaborskiej), in which one can find examples of local handicraft and household objects from the region of Wiele, Brusy and all Kashubia.Having visited all those places it's good to visit the second after Wieżyca highest peak in region - Chełmice (201,5m above sea level). It is a perfect spot to contemplate the beauty of nature and Kashubian historical treasures.
